It’s surprising that so many SEO professionals falter at this basic first step towards getting quality traffic to a web site. That is – you must test your keyword research. The basic was to do that is simple – RESEARCH. So there isn’t an issue of not being able to FIND the keywords to target. The issue is people don’t know what to do with them once they have found all the relevant words.

Every company or individual needs to find the right set of keywords for their business. That is one of the basic steps to get the best search engine rankings. Many company leaders and managers have their own interpretation of how they want their brand to be portrayed and perceived online. If your site is targeting the wrong keywords, the search engines and your customers may never find you, resulting in lost dollars and meaningless rankings.

Focusing on generic keywords that gain an enormous number of searches, but which also have an enormous amount of competition is usually not worth it unless the keyword is highly likely to provide you with converting traffic, and unless you have a very big marketing budget. So what do u to when you have gotten the right keywords? You TEST them. Until the keywords have been tested you don’t have anything concrete that proves whether a keyword will actually bring sales to your site. And, yes, testing includes your landing page’s effectiveness in converting the traffic into customers.

If you have designed your website as a series of websites or linked pages and not just a single Home Page, you must bear in mind that each page of your website must be search engine optimized. The title of each page i.e. the keywords you use on that page and the phrases you use in the content will draw traffic to your site.
